Why I Workout (Even When I Don’t Want To)

Let’s be honest — some days, the only thing I feel like lifting is a remote control.

Between the school run, work calls, dishes, tantrums (sometimes mine), and late-night snack negotiations, finding time (and energy) to work out can feel like trying to dunk with dad knees.

But I do it anyway...most of the time.

Not for the abs. For the aftermath.

I’m not chasing a six-pack (let’s be real — I’m chasing my kids).

I do it because one day, my daughter will bring home someone who calls me “Sir,” and I want my biceps to respond before I do.

I do it because:

  • 💪 I want to be strong for my kids, not just around them.
  • 🧠 It keeps me sane when life gets loud.
  • 🎯 It reminds me that showing up — even imperfectly — still counts.
  • 🥤 I want to age like a fine protein shake: lumpy but effective.

This isn’t just about fitness.

It’s about fatherhood.

About being present, energetic, and setting the tone.

We’re not just lifting weights — we’re lifting futures.

So, to the dad fitting squats between bedtime stories, or turning push-ups into peek-a-boo breaks — I see you.

You’re doing the work. You’re showing up.

That’s what makes you a Dadthlete.
